Facebook is NOT a GAME. Things you didn't know

Journal Entry: Sun Dec 30, 2012, 6:12 PM
Worm

**HEY GUYS- THIS HAS BEEN UPDATED - **
I wrote this journal originally a couple of months ago, but now realizing that I kind of wrote this out of pure bitterness and judging..I admit it. So instead of saying all the wrong stuff people are doing with Facebook (self promoting or superficial beauty contests or who's the prettiest contest or who has the most likes and etc trying to get 3000+ friends.) I won't go on, you probably have a whole list of things that annoy or aggravate you on Facebook. Well I am here to inform you.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.) ''Privacy''
EVERY SINGLE THING YOU DO ON FACEBOOK IS not private or for you and your friends eyes only, UNLESS YOU CHANGE YOUR SETTINGS. There are a lot of creeps out there and you don't know who may be watching your stuff. If you are fine with it or do not think it is serious and no one is bothering, feel free to do what you please. Look out for future employers though ;D Your profile can say a lot about you~ (I find myself guilty that my pictures are public but what people post on my wall is for my friends eyes only! :) I DON'T need to show case how many people post on my wall or etc.
Also ->>>>>>>> please do not COMPARE YOUR LIFE WITH OTHERS.

2.) " Having a Perfect Image''
WHAT YOU SEE ON PEOPLE'S TIMELINES and all their pictures.
You may think they lead some sort of ''life'
and that their life is all picture glam perfect, but that's not it at all. You have NO IDEA. I used to think so too and go..gee they seem to be having the time of their lives!
We all create an image of ourselves, let's be honest, if we use Facebook frequently, whether we are intentionally doing so OR NOT :O <--------I do it sometimes too! :O Guilty. Hey, I'm human.
So you might think : {{""OH THAT COUPLE LOOKS SO HAPPY!
LOOK AT ALL THE HAPPY PICS THEY POST
OH THEY LOOK HAPPY KISSING,.}}
Maybe they are just posing for fun {somehow I find all couples on Facebook do this but I don't want to take more than 2 pictures of my boyfriend and I TRYING to showcase how truly happy we are TO THE WORLD .-.}or things are not going so great between them?
Ohh look at all that girls photos, she is so BEAUTIFUL AND PERFECT.
I bet she edits photos, we all do. It's normal and we have those times where you take like 50 selfies and you are only satisfied with 1? :p Or where you ask people to like your status or stuff. Okay, we all do stuff like that, but we are only human. Facebook is a multi media base for wanting CONSTANT FEEDBACK or being like ''hey look at what I AM DOING'' posting photos, or maybe just posting photos for memories but yea. Wait what was I going to say-? O.O

WARNING: I would not suggest cussing a lot or posting rude comments or cyber bullying or anything. Scratch that, HECK NO DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.

BOTTOM LINE. We all act a certain way online and sometimes people don't know and think that you are being fake or whatever.
Well to each their own, it IS YOUR OWN FACEBOOK. so do as you please..

(( FUNNY LITTLE NOTE :'D This happens to me quite a bit when I interact with people I do not know-> People block you? You win. You block people? You win. Either way,?? It's over. Facing mean comments? Walk away from it. It's just online. Words do not have to define you or HURT YOU UNLESS YOU LET THEM. People who try to put you down have a problem with themselves and try to cut others down and have ''reasons'' and intentions for doing so~ If you don't know them personally and have never met these people in real life before whether it be ex friends you made on Facebook/Roleplayers or rude people/trolls/ and pedophiles. Unless um..you know them and you might have to deal with them in real life where they ACTUALLY ARE IN YOUR SCHOOL OR SOMETHING? THEN I WISH YOU LUCK. Just get rid of negative people and whatever you choose to do, it benefits YOU IN THE END :-D

Conclusion : Facebook stalk, comment, take pics to your content (it really annoys me though, people who have 100+ photos of themselves and cannot choose or think they are ugly but post naughty pics or whatever for attention) or ''Like 4 like or do adding games or enter those ''who is the hottest girl contests. Let's face it, there is a huge majority of superficiality on facebook but don't forget it's true purpose!

TO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH FRIENDS, FAMILIES, CO WORKERS and potentially make new friends!
Have fun facebooking! :) <3 Please do not let it consume your life though or have an addiction to it. I admit I had quite a few. Balance your offline and online life, and I guarantee you will get more out of life! I sure know I did!

-------------------------------------------

Just be yourself on Facebook, use it for it's true purpose and keep in close contact with loved ones. Also do not reveal too much information, have fun and BE SAFE! I love you babes! :'D
-Stay golden! ~ Eleni <3 xox

You always get that sort of stuff online. Superficial behavioral tendencies are just more noticeable in Internet cities (websites with a massive amount of traffic). This is an Internet city; that's why we see Facebook as a superficial site for selfies and casual gaming. That's why most people see dA as a "NSOC (not-so-original character) website; Tumblr as a site for radical SJW's that don't seem to know the meaning of the word "justice"; and Twitter as a day-to-day stenographer. Once a site becomes an Internet city, this sort of online stereotyping is inevitable. And this is why I am primarily an artist.

 You said it.
I'm only on Facebook to keep in touch with my family. I sign on about once a month, maybe update my status with a quote from a book or how my grades are, and I'll like a few posts. I'll sign on to follow some of my favorite artists so they get more exposure. Then that's it. I'm done.
For some people, it seems their entire life revolves around it. :( It's sad to watch.

Facebook appears to be slowly but surely falling from grace and out of fashion. At least here in the UK. A little bit.

Well, isn't that the problem with the internet today. These children really aren't doing anything that is their fault, you have to realise that the media is exposing them to things they shouldn't be thinking about untl they are much older, like sex, drugs and partying. We didn't hear about these things until we were old enough to form responsible decisions and not go nuts. These kids have had no time, and simply go with the flow, because that is what kids do.

Trust me, it's all part of growing up. You remember all those rumours you heard on the playground that were utter nonsense, but you believed because you didn't know better? That is the exact same kind of thing that is happening today, kids are seeing all these things and thinking that they have to act like this. Coupled with parents breaking up and neglecting their children, the kids are left to fend for themselves, with no-one to tell them what is right and wrong.

It might seem like it is entirely their choice, but it really isn't. It's just what is being pushed to them, and they have no choice but to adopt an adult culture, while they are young. It looks like simple stupidity, but there is no such thing as a bad or stupid child. It all stems from their parenting, and how they were raised.

I agree. ^_^

I just started FB and only use it to keep in touch with contacts who don't have Gmail or Skype. Plus it's a good place to get my artwork seen. ^_^
I'm not interested in creating my image on there, really. It's my business who I date, see, and what I do. I mean, what's the point in posting your entire life on that thing? It's not very wise either. And who the heck cares if your putting on a coat? Seriously? The world needs to know this? Or the people who spend their entire lives updating it? Haha I only spend (at most) 2 hours on it. And I'm mostly just chatting with someone. But I see these people on it who are on 24/7, and wow. All this pointless updating and everything. What's the point? It's a dangerous obsession, and to spend many hours a day of your life on it, that's a pointless addiction. It's just a place to get attention, really. "It's cold outside, I think I'll put on a jacket"...AND?
Jeez. lol
Besides, FB has been a pain in the ass lately to me, so I ain't posting nothing personal. The only thing that goes on there are drawings from dA and here and there. ^^
Hehe I feel extra rant-y today...lol

Actually, for me, facebook really is to stay in touch with family and friends I can't see anymore. I've never posted a pic of myself (but my friends have), and if I were in a relationship, I post it just because it would be easier that to tell everyone in a message. I'm really not on there much, and when I am, I mostly play the dumb games on there (Farmville, etc.), look at what others have posted, and don't post anything myself, but thenI'm not a teen. Sill don't give up hope, not everyone on there is so superficial.

Definitley agree with all of this!I really  instagram though and the filters can work at times and I absolutley dislike ulzzang as it's really annoying and I love Jpop culture and they are amazing but people who 'try' to act like them are just being really stupid and it makes them look stupid,it's not in their nature at all!

Aha, I agree with EVERYTHING in there. And then there are those stupid chain mails that are on just about every site: Oh, uh, my name is... Donger, and if you don't spread this disgusting virus around, I will kill you at exactly 10:22 pm because my mom grounded me. The end.

I feel the same way about it. Most people on there practically live there. It's a dangerous addiction in many ways. This world keeps getting worst every minute.

Thinking of my face your problems, don't Facebook them shirt. You are right and I hope you can see who fuels your life vs who drains it. You are right about the pointless updates some have. Mine are always philosophical. I do think it helps to accept that Facebook is more of a hub for people you already know than one for meeting people since you are tired of the same old

One for true friends and or family and one for everyone else cuz yes bosses do chk that crp out.and there are a lot of fakes out there.and ppl who need the attention.for some, its all they have. In my book, whatever keeps you happy and in a good frame of mind is a good thing.weather i agree with it or not.live life and be free!!

I totally and completely agree with you... I must be the most old-fashioned 16 year old there is. People just can't be content with being themselves. Why can't they just be happy and grateful for all the beauty around them and what they have?!?! Everything has become nonsensical and worthless to people, and they keep trying to seek out bigger and better things for themselves just because the newest wont be the newest in two days, whatever it happens to be. I, for one, believe that we have a wonderful purpose on this earth and that in the future, all that will matter is that we stay healthy an happy morally, physically, mentally, and spiritually. If we strive for riches and fake fame, then what good is life?! :noes:

Sorry for the rant ^^; I just want you to know that I agree with you 100%

UHG. I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE PUT PICS OF THEM WITH LIKE. FISH FAIS. OR SOMETHING. And god... I swear... some people I know have like... freaking 1,000 - 2,000+ friends. And the status updates... I DON'T NEED TO KNOW EVERY MINUTE OF YO LIFE, MAN. "Hanging out wif mai famileeee, yo" -_- Doesn't seem like you're hanging out with your family when you're on Facebook. Or like "IN THE CAR GOING TO ____." kk. Cool, now we know where to send the assassins. And it's sooo true about the people saying "LOVE YOU, B**CH", "ILY2 MY BOOTIFUL F**K*NG BUDDY"
Then there's Instagram... omaigod. Whenever I go to my family's house, there's these kids with iPads and iPhones, taking pictures of their food and being all "HAHA I Gonzputon mai instagram har har" And when they're done their food gone cold. q-q
Ahhgg. This generation...
